I'm wondering if this look would be a bit excessive if fitted to my Fiat 500?
I'm sure someone must have done something like this to blow heat away from the exhaust or to direct cool air at an oil-cooler; I think it would look quite good if you didn't change the contours of the bodywork.[emoji3] Porsche_996_Turbo_air_scoop_(air_intake).jpeg

thin end of the wedge... I always said that after the 123 dizzy

I'm at the Race Retro show at Stoneleigh. Loads of interesting things to see including a "Fiat 500", almost unrecognisable with a really souped -up BMC engine. But I find myself collecting detailed images of air-scoops. A works-prepared Hillman Imp has these...

Until about a year ago there was a series of u-tube films by "Dutch Abarth" regarding the building of a replica '695'. The built a very neat scoop under the car, just ahead of the drive-shafts which directed air to the oil-cooler. It didn't protrude very far into the air-flow The under-body goes up just before the drive-shafts, so they utilised that factor into fitting the oil cooler and scoop. Did you take any pictures of the BMC engine in the 500 Peter?

Hi Tom, I know I really should have taken pictures of the 500, but although it is a very well executed piece of engineering and expertly restored and improved since first made, it doesn't inspire me as in hardly any way at all is it a Fiat 500.[emoji3] I know I'm selfish on this but unfortunately, with the high cost of film these days [emoji3] I passed on that one.

Yes Peter, standard fitting, the Devil in the details... :)
Damn... I've just given away a whole Louvre section taken from a 900e van
I am certain that would be an excellent solution to the frequently quoted overheating problems, (which I don't have [emoji3]).
The louvres could even be taken from an old or new engine cover.

I've cut a Fiat 600 engine lid apart to create a multi louvered engine cover.
You can see all the internals of the engine bay.....
V nice......
