I did mention briefly on another post that I had a spare Dellorto FZD 32/28 carburettor. This was last fitted on a tuned Fiat 126 engine and has not been used since the mid 1980's. A rare item & no doubt about its Italian heritage so not a repro from a far off land. Will require an inlet manifold but I am including a brand new inlet trumpet. Will sell for £225 and buyer to pay shipping to any destination.

Unable to upload pictures for some reason ?

That is a very fair price David. A manifold costs about £85, so for just over £300 the buyer will have possibly the most sensible carb 'up-rate' for the 500/126 engine. In my (humble) opinion the DCOE Weber is far to big a lump to bung on the side of the 500/126 engine, and if you don't want it to keep breaking manifolds and the rubber connectors, you have to fit a support. If you MUST have a twin-choke side-draught carb, the Dellorto or Solex 35s are a much better (and lighter) bet. The FZD is easily re-jetted, most of the required jets still being available.

Happy holidays Tom! Glad I saw your reply to the Dellorto post. If you say it is GTG for my engine, I am gonna get it. This Weber 40 DCOE is not adjusting well to high altitude and I would prefer not having the poorly made bracket I have to hold it up covering up my nice engine cover I made.

Yes, you are correct, the HS2 SU carb fits the same manifold as the FZD Dellorto, or, to be more accurate, the FZD fits the same manifold as the HS2. A fair number of minis and mini-coopers had their SU carbs removed and replaced by FZDs. The angle of fitment and flange measurements of the 2 carbs are exactly the same. Being that the FZD has an accelerator pump, and is generally speaking a better carb for performance engines, it was a good and easy replacement. I am eventually going to build up a '595'engine (because, for no other good reason than that is the capacity of my spare engine) and fit it to a test bed, purely to try out a variety of carbs, including the SU and bike carbs (Keihin and Mikuni).
