About four months ago I asked around a bit before shelling out a few quid to replace my original headlamp surrounds which, after nearly fifty years, were quite rusty and with the odd hole in them.
So now, after being quite well treated and with little exposure to rain and almost zero experience of salt, one of the new ones is very rusty.
I'm no going to complain to the supplier because I'm sure they all come from the same source in Italy China. I can see aluminium ones available; does anyone know which models these were fitted to?

Well which ones do you think were not mass produced?
and had lots of nice aluminum?

It may be possible to fit them to later cars...
remember N/D's have no fittings on the headlights so clips holding them fit easily...

I could sort you out some later chrome trims.. I have a few pairs....
some look quite good quality...

also there are some "peaked" alloy trims...

I'm not sure I'm ready for a downgrade just yet ;) I'm sure one of my original F's had aluminium.

According to my one source of Info from 1962 on-wards (D.F.L.R) headlight trim was chrome on steel. However I also have info that states the 1st series F's (1965) had alloy trims...

but just checked at there isn't any difference in size/shape etc between the alloy peaked trims and the steel ones...

So they can be fitted and it is always possible that someone decided to fit the alloy ones on later cars when the originals rusted away....

I bet they could be polished to a mirror finish as well :)

£50! That's 10% of the car's cost.

I found an original Fiat (Ireland) Recommended Retail Price List for January 1969 incl. all taxes. (U.K. prices were probably a little cheaper).

I may have located a NOS pair....
but suspect at £80-90 that Murph would become a target for thieves given such value...
