Hello All.

I have a mount on my engine just to the left of the exhaust as in picture. I wondered if anyone knows if this is definitely up to the job of holding the engine to lift it out and do work on it. IMG_0001.JPG

Thanks in advance.

Hi Tim, In my experience of engine out - engine in antics I've never had the need to use it!!!! (y)(y) I have found that the best way (for me) to remove engine and/or gearbox is to jack up the car and support it on axel stands then once uncoupled lower the engine on a little dolly with a trolly jack before pulling it back !! However, the bracket may be strong enough (y)(y)

Hi Ian. Thanks for your response. That the way I did it with my old engine but unfortunately it was fit to be put back in and didn’t have this bracket, so this is a new engine.
Not sure if to risk it. I don’t want to have to buy another engine !
Cheers

That little bracket is easily up to the job & I have used them many times to lift the engine. Also I have often used it with a little strong nylon cord tied to the engine cover catch to support the engine whilst it is being fitted, removed or carrying out work like cleaning the oil filter with the rear panel removed. You get great access that way :)
