Hi

Has anyone taken pictures of the driveshaft removal from the diff centre?

Dismantling gearbox and removing replacing axles?

I have tried searching the forum but if there is a thread you can point me to that would be helpful as well

Thanks

Geoff

This is all I have Geoff. Don’t know if they are any good to you?

Hi Geoff;
Sadly,according to the manuals that I have (and 'Haynes' gives quite a clear description) you do have to remove the complete diff unit and strip it. I f you are very canny, carefully mark where all the adjustments and adjusters are set prior to stripping the diff, and then, after you have replaced the shafts you should be able to put everything back together 'as was'. If you want, I can copy out the appropriate pages for you and post them to you.

Thanks Tom

I have a Haynes manual that I should dig out. I looked at my Originale Fiat manual earlier today

I also spoke to a local mechanic who said the same as you. Mark all of the parts and all should be ok.

Cheers

Geoff

Thats the pictoral guide I used when I did mine. I did as Tom suggests and marked everything so it went back the same. I know you’re supposed to check the backlash but I didn’t bother and so far nothing has gone bang. Your car though so its up to you

My link in Flickr has helped a lot of customers put the new driveshaft in place. I am happy that my Flickr link is still being used till today to help out a lot of Fiat 500 owners. [emoji16]

They are some of the best quality photos I've ever seen on a car diy guide, well done and thank you

( I also love the forced break in repair - have pasta now)
