Would be helpful but, unfortunately, during a 'restoration' made by a previous owner, all my wiring is Red - same colour as the body!

Thanks for that. It will come in handy.

That's the idea, have fun ;)

That sucks :( . But get some paint thinner or something similar and start cleaning the wires near the connectors and junctions, so you can tell whats what. The rest in between can stay red

I made a copy of my 500 L wiring diagram and had it copied and enlarged about 4 times and put on a board to use. Found it much better.

Yes, I too brought this file to Office Max and had them printed and laminated in a larger format. It's a large JPEG file (in 100% zoom it's four times my 17" monitor), click again once it opens on the black background and it will be displayed in full size and download it. You'll like it much better that way. I also added relays that I fitted to the car's headlight system on my version.

What sucks is the new replacement harness doesn't match the original colors at all...at least in my case it didnt. And Italian wiring, geez, you thought Lucas was bad. At least lucas made sense, this goes back and forth into and out of the headlight simmer switch, though the fuse box in a diagonal manner. I mean I understand why the way it was done, but oiy. With non matching colors what a mess

Are those repro harnesses that bad? Like the ones from MrFiat?

I've been considering getting little Martina custom wired when I finally pull the trigger on re-doing the body. I'd like to incorporate a couple things like an engine harness disconnect, flashers, and a cigarette lighter when I get it done, so rather than bodging up a repro harness, I may price out a custom loom. Although, having no idea what that may cost, I may wind up doing it myself.

If I bought a wiring harness described as a 'reproduction' and it didn't match the original colors, I'd send it back for a refund.

Using such a harness means you can't use the manufacturer's wiring diagram and will confuse the hell out of anyone who has to work on the car in future.

I always try to use what's already there.
In my experience, Fiat wiring harnesses give very little trouble.

Providing no-one has messed with it, all that's usually needed is cleaning/replacing a few terminals that are corroded due to exposure to mud/salt/moisture and ensuring that all connections are tight, especially at the fusebox, ignition switch.

This is a lot easier, quicker and CHEAPER that installing a replacement harness.

Bear in mind, fitting a new harness won't necessarily cure earth(ground) problems, these will still have to be located and corrected.....

Made in Taiwan. Really cheap flimsy wires and connectors. Avoid.

Completely agree with Al---the harness on my 500 is the original. I have had to clean up earthing points and put on 1 or 2 new terminals, but basically no problem at all. The only modification that my son and I made after the front of my car had been re-built was to make up small 'looms' for the front lights; the idea being that if the front has to come apart again (which I sincerely do NOT plan) than the wiring for the front lights can be just pulled off the lights and away (if required) from their relevant multi-plug. "Jumpjets's" plan for a 'easy to disconnect'engine bay loom has its merits.
