Hi All,

The 500 Club UK has got a run this Bank Hoilday weekend around parts of east Suffolk and I was wondering if anyone from the forum is joining in? I am hoping to take my D to join the convoy on its run to Southwold on Sunday and it would be nice to put faces to names so please come find me if you’re there. :D

That is, if I may say so, one daft piece of organisation!---it is a shame that the "500 Club UK" didn't let the various clubs/Forum be aware of the run. This is because the "Ipswich/Felixstowe Classic Vehicle Run" is on Sunday (6th), and there is a good possibility that I won't be the only 500 on that particular run. I know we now live in Chester, but having lived in Felixstowe for about 29 years, we still have a lot of friends in the area, and this trip will enable us to (a) take part in the run (5th time)and catch up with a number of friends. I don't know where the 'Fiat club' run starts from Ian, but I will be in Christchurch Park, Ipswich from about 9.45 until 11,00, and then on the Felixstowe sea-front from about 1.00pm until 4.00pm.
The countryside around the Southwold is beautiful, so if you go on the run you should have a good time.

It is a shame that we couldn’t have both been on the same run on Sunday, I hope there will be another chance for us to place our cars together. The Ipswich/Felixstowe Classic Vehicle Run sounds like one we should put in the diary for another time. I guess the Fiat club find runs outside their core area, which I believe is Northampton ‘ish’, when a long weekend comes along, of which there aren’t many so there will always be clashes.

Coincidentally we were enjoying Felixstowe seafront last Wednesday after leaving our motorhome for some work at Mercedes in Ipswich. (y)

Hope you have a great trip, when do you head back home?

Well we had a great day out with members of the Fiat 500 Club UK. There were 19 classic cars in all including a 600D and a Steyr Puch 700D. The weather was fantastic and we met some very interesting people.

The Fly Yellow car is fitted with an 800cc engine which the owner told me produces over 45 bhp.

Hope you enjoy these pics:

A friend of mine, Kevin, who lives in Crowfield and has an eye for a classic car, being a vintage Morris-Man himself (for clarity, a man who likes vintage Morris cars, not an old man who dances around a Maypole ;) ) says he saw you all in Aldeburgh yesterday. He said it was a sight that would have "warmed my heart". .... I didn't realise that he thought it was so cold to start with, but I know what he means...they look fantastic all together. (y)

Hi Ian; we eventually got back on Wednesday evening--left Ipswich about 1.00pm. Yes, the weather WAS fantastic, which became a bit of a problem for some of the cars on the run. The problem with the Ipswich/Felixstowe run is that for them to do 'traffic control' the local 'boys in blue' want about £3,500---the result is a very slow, tedious run out of Ipswich and into Felixstowe. If they are not careful and do something about it, the run could become a victim of its own success, which would be very sad.
Next year I am seriously thinking of 'doing' the show at Helmingham Hall. My car was at this show many years ago with the previous owner, so I would like to attend the show and have both the original 'sticker' on display as well as the one for when I take the Fiat to the show---maybe we could meet up there.
We were in Ipswich for 5 days, and due to the fantastic weather I used the Fiat for all my running around--eventually worked it out that I had driven 250 miles over the 5 days--sun-roof open and windows down--who needs air-conditioning?
