If the sills are suspect is there any chance it will break its back when getting in on and off the a trailer or bouncing around on the trip home?

If I remember correctly, everything from the front of the rear windows , back, is the same as a 600/600D. Many years ago I managed to acquire a copy of the "Autopress Ltd" 600/600D workshop manual--WHICH INCLUDES THE MULTIPLA". if you go ahead with this project, I will give you that work-shop manual as a "kick-start present".
Another source of parts would be a 'scrapper' 600/600D--they do still turn up, and enquiries to the "Fiat 500 club" and/or the "Fiat 500 Enthusiasts club" might also elicit some parts. Then there is always MBG--Anton (the w/shop foreman) has just completed a bit of a "Q" car 600--looks standard--but goes more than a mite quicker than one!
If all these positive vibes sound as if they are trying to persuade you to go ahead with this project---too bloody true blue!! If you decide to go the "Servicio Abarth" route, a slight flaring of the rear wheel arches will allow you to easily fit 5.5in wheels (depending on the offset.:worship::)

“Then maybe someone here can help me figure out if it's a US or European model Multipla..“

Purely due to the similarity to the early American market 500, with the external headlamp bowls rather than flush mounted, my money would be on this Multipla being an American market car.

I believe the sticky out headlights on the Multipla were just an indication of it being early...
and I believe yjere is a connection between US spec 500s and Multiplas...
Like any car manufacturer they want to save money on tooling... I believe the 500 bug eye lights are the buckets and rims from a Multipla.

In effect a Multipla is just a 600 converted into a "Forward Control" Vehicle... I would even go as far as to say they have the same wheelbase... If Tom has the info in his library of books perhaps he can take a look at the facts and figures?? comparing a Multipla and a 600

A 1300 Fulvia. A 1600HF would be nice but they are horribly expensive and ultra-rare.

Great choice, I was very tempted to find one in Italy and bring it over (y)

That's what I'm worried about as well...

The rust looks confined to the floorplans. I would brace it before trying to move it just in case

How would you suggest I brace it?

Thank you! Appreciate the gesture (y) I'm waiting on pictures of the chassis number as well as photos of the engine/gearbox

Yes, I believe I read something that said the multipla had the same wheelbase as the 600, and all they did was move the front row above the front wheels. The suspension was changed to the 1100 setup (coil + shocks) rather than leaf springs.

It would be best to weld in some steel 1 corner to the opposite bottom corner in an X shape. Take or borrow a small mig welder when you collect it ,some steel tubing and an assortment of tools

The wheel-base of the Multipla is the same as the saloon (sedan in certain countries) at 78.74 ins (2.00m). the front track of the Multipla is 3ins wider than the saloon and the rear track just 1/8th in narrower. The brakes for the Multipla are upgraded quite a bit vis-a-vie the saloon in that the Multipla has brake drums that are nearly 1-1/2 in bigger in diameter (the Multipla is 300lb heavier than the saloon). The brake master-cylinder and wheel cylinders are all "1 size up" on the Multipla. As I mentioned before, the front suspension on the Multipla is based on Fiat 1100 parts whereas the saloon in the normal (for Fiat small saloons) a transverse leaf spring.
As far as I can ascertain, ALL Multiplas had 'bug-eye' headlamps, partly I think to stop them protruding into the foot-well.
Some suggestions with regard to finding body panels;--(a) obtain a friend in Italy who can search the e-bay sites over there. (b) contact the secretaries of both the "Fiat 500 enthusiasts club" and the "Fiat 500 club" and see if you can put a "WANTED" advert in their magazines---it may be that somebody has a 'scrapper', or the remains of one that had also been bought for parts. MBG is a good source of parts (or where to get them). Anton, the works foreman there has just finished a "Q" car 600D--looks fairly standard, but goes more than a mite quicker! (c) look in some of the 'Classic car' magazines---some have, like there is in "Practical Classics", a section entitled "Rust in Peace"--pictures of cars that have just been 'left' A 600/600D might appear somewhere. (d) contact "Classic and Sports car" magazine--they have a section entitled "Lost and Found" where they hi-light cars that been abandoned for long periods of time and are now going to be restored---a couple of pictures of your project and a request for help with parts might elicit some favourable response.
Lastly, go onto the "AutoItalia" magazine site, and go to the section for 'back-numbers'---edition 130 (still available) has an article on a 'Gamine' and a Multipla (like wot yoo 'av--not the noo ones). There are also articles in editions 36 and 44, but I don't know if they are the old Multipla or the 'new' one; maybe if you ask nicely, (Ms Claire Prior is the lady) they would look at editions 36 & 44 and advise you which model of the Multipla is in those editions. :)(y)

You make it sound so easy:D

The question Turbo500 needs to ask is to Peter and Sean! Would the Kings of Rust and Patina (Patina in Peter’s case with a modicum of shiny, and nice and shiny in Sean’s) buy it and if it was say £8k as a resto project requiring lots of panel fettling and forming?

I'm making an assumption that Turbo is weller-off than me :D and I'm not sure he's even said how much is being asked for it anyway. But your instinct is right; it would have to be an impossibly low £1500 before I would buy it.
Also, I'm going to revise my valuation to agree with your £8,000 as being more realistic, having looked at a few Italian jobs for sale.:D

Sorry to disappoint, but the only reason I'm even considering this is because of the price (y)

No it doesn't.:)
This was at the Goodwood Members' Meeting about three years ago.

That's the event that I saw it next to 500s, and the 500 looks like it's a different scale size...maybe bloated is the wrong word

An image inside the front floor of my 900e van to show the similarities with the Multipla as seen on Turbo's first posting. Built almost thirty years apart.

That's pretty funny, shame I can't find any 900's to cannibalize over here :p

Just do it before it gets this bad :eek:
