Could all this clean shiny be frightening Sean off?
or has he stripped the L for a second rebuild to the new ASI Gold Standard :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Ok this weekend I’ll stripping everything down and shotblasing to see how many parts I can re-use .

In the picture my drive shafts have tin plates/cups that seem to be there to protect the Cush drive joints has anybody seen these before .

And also it appears that the car was a light green or blue colour in its previous life.

of course there is the easy way out...
upgrade to the Modern later setup... but that wold be toooo easy eh!!

EXACTLY!!
Don’t worry I’ll soon replicate those.your gonna be impressed with what’s happening in the background.
I’ve also received my letter from the fiat 500 enthusiasts today so I can apply for my age related number plate .:slayer:

do those cups like factory or someone made them?
No one I know has seen anything like them...
and nothing in any parts books I have..

I was looking at them earlier and thought they looked pretty roughly made, mind I appreciate their age.

Might be possible they were put on by a mechanic maybe after a stone or similar caused some type of failure and these were formed and installed to avoid a reaccurance of the problem?

They do say that every picture tells a story! :D

I’ll post a picture tomorrow it’s a proper thing made out of one piece of tin with the lock tabs and shaped a bit like a 50p piece.

Like you say they are the prototype car

Those rear arms are totally different to the D or F/L
They have the bump stop on the arm instead of the bodyshell.
Also the handbrake cable bracket is in a different place.

Possibly those cups were to prevent dirt build up?
The D arms had 2 small lengths of steel welded each side of the arm, presumably to scrape any build up of dirt off the joints.
By the time they got to the later ones they didn't even bother.

mate has a NOS pair for £1500
but you can see why they are swapped for later setups...
the springs on N/D cars are 221mm and later cars 219mm...
negligible some may say....

Ahh the joys of Prototipo ownership.....
I can see me depositing an N in your garage soon .......

ohh and I was right N & D gear boxes are different....
on an N 1st is 36/11, D onward is 37/10

Ok here’s a couple of pics of mentioned pieces of tin.

Hi Andy,
I noticed a difference on your bootlid that I have not seen before.
How was the exhaust heat sink mounted to the inside of the bootlid?
All bootlids usually have these tabs on the inside that it hooks over.
Yours has 2 holes in a raised area. must be an early idea that they changed.

Hi
There wasn’t anything fixed to the lid apart from number plate wire and lamp I over the years many holes have been drilled even the badge had extra holes drilled on the opposite side.

Andy.
