Hi Friendly fiat people,
Finally finished my 500F with a rebuilt 126 engine and 126 gearbox, I have a question, on the speedo there are indicators for maximum speeds in each gear, which I am dutifully following, however as the engine is now a 126 652cc 24HP as opposed to the original 499cc 18HP? does this mean that the speedo gear guides are different and if so by how much.
Thanks in advance!

I've found that the 652 engine is most comfortable at exactly the same sorts of speeds/gears as with a 499 engine. But 4th gear is not quite so flexible and the engine doesn't appreciate you using it at any speed below 40mph if you are using throttle.(n)

I haven't experienced the top speed but it is easily above 60mph and at that speed the engine doesn't sound like it's going to self-destruct.

PS. The speedo actually seems to be more accurate with the later gearbox. (As measured by "check-your-speed", electronic signs).

Hi Peter, thats great advice many thanks! I'm in the process of running in so won't be making the jump to light speed just yet.
