These might not be clamp on mirrors but I think they are very cool! :D:)

Mounting them was easy using rivnuts, bought from Passione500.

I'm not one for drilling holes in cars as they always seem to rust there..
but I must confess... I picked these mirrors up for Ian... and I was very impressed with the quality, look and feel of them....
I am tempted myself to be honest.....

Do you have a right one also and is it effective?

Like all mirrors I've seen that are suitable for the 500 the mirror lens is only about 80mm diameter but I find this quite adequate. I fitted mine using rivnuts and some socket headed screws. They are nice and rigid and I get very little vibration when driving so yeah I'd say they are very effective. :D:)

Rust? In a Fiat? Never, surely!

I remember what a job it was to get you to part with the mirrors when you got back to the UK :D In my opinion the mirrors are well made and great value. They attract a lot of comments and suit the car well, oh, and they are lovely to polish :D (y) :spin:

Hope nobody minds if I chip in and ask if anyone knows an appropriate replacement for my mirror? It looks beyond restoration as is, I think the round mirror part was painted black (or something) and seems to need more work to save than would be worth it

Bullet mirrors look great! Would the above fit in this existing position - reluctant to do screw holes but keen to use what's there...

Lucas make a mirror that appears to be very similar to the one you've got. You'd have to check with a retailer to find out what the screw spacing is.

Hi Guys

Here are some pictures of my mirrors, they are the bullet type from Passione 500 that Ian has. I had already drilled a single mountng hole and didn't want to drill again with the large base plate the mirrors came with. I fitted them with a pair of Lucas mirror single bolt arms and capped off the inner, (larger) hole with a blind grommet that covers things up tidily, whilst allowing for a socket to tighten the whole thing up. Also, both mirrors are usable even though they are only 80 m/m diameter.

They are very smart and relative in size to the car's proportions.

What people with these older 500s have to realize... is some of these accessories that may seem beyond saving..... may actually be worth the effort...
if they were fitted when new.... then you may find they are very valuable...
I'm not an expert but you may find that is an original "Albert" mirror... so yes the effort makes it worth saving.. have a look at Josh's thread (Zinger Customs) as he restored an original mirror on the Jolly he did...
Most of the repro stuff is not a patch on some of the original stuff and if it has lasted this long then it is a testament to the original quality...

This is so true, I'm amazed at the quality of stuff on this car

I tried to find Josh's mirror resto but both the Jolly restoration projects I saw on the zinger website had no mirrors at all!

I'm late to the thread, but I also have these exact mirrors and love them. They look great, but they're also practical and functional. The mirrors that were on the car when I took ownership were pretty useless. The off-side mirror (the important one when you're driving on the left) couldn't be set in to a position where you could use it to see behind you, and they both flopped around.

These are solid, and I can see what's behind me.

I already had drills holes in that area for the previous mirrors, but had to drill one more as they weren't the right distance apart (I would have been very lucky if they were). I just drilled the hole, and then coated all three holes with some primer, and then under-seal before bolting them on.

I'm hoping this will keep rust at bay!

Ok here i am with my new mirrors installed, i think they look nice and they are also effective, special the right one which has even better view if you put it(y) upside down as i have installed them. Thanks again for the tips

Looks good!

After singing the praises of these mirrors (or at least something very similar) in my previous thread, one of them broke last week! I didn't hit anything, the arm just broke snapped/sheared as I shut the door.

I think they're pretty heavy, so the weight of the unit probably puts a bit of pressure on the weakest part of the arm as the door comes to an abrupt stop when closing. I've switched them now for the disc style of mirrors (rather than the heavier cone shape).

Sorry to read this, I certainly hope this isn't something that going to happen to mine! :( Being a D, suicide doors, my mirrors are at the latch end of the door, so they might be under more stress, or less, as I shut the doors?

Yeah, more stress compared to hinge side I suspect. Hopefully I just had a weak casting or something, but maybe just be conscious of it and try not to slam the doors too hard!!
