Yes you are correct, German model 650cc 24hp, don't know anything about year, forgot to check the car tamplate but i will post this tho 126 forum also. Also don't know if it has synchromesh gearbox or not.

I read somewhere that there was a German version with one horse-power less to fit in with some insurance bracket or driving regulation of some kind. I'll try to find it.
I hope you are wrong Peter, i need that horse:D

Found it on the German Wikipedia.
"652 cm³ displacement, 17 kW (23 hp - air-cooled - in the Fiat 126 Bambino 650 restricted for the German market because of the insurance classes at that time by 1 hp)"
Is the engine still in the car? If so you have to restore the 126 because they are very important too. ???
I guess it will be slightly different jet in the carburettor or different distributor advance...Easy to sort.

The engine is still in the car but I will buy only the engine, car is in really bad shape, besides that's 126 fate, to be donors for 500. I guess that this 1hp missing can really be found. I am waiting for another engine to see and decide.

I bet it's not as rusty as some of our British ones have gone!:D

The German type engine sounds interesting of this is true:

"This design was because the Germans didn`t want the fumes from round the whole engine go inside the cabin. The warm air only pushes through pass the cylinder head.
These engines are ideal for the Panda 30 cylinder head conversion as the German Bambino engine has a square head, shorter push rod tubes and it`s almost a straight swap."

I wonder if there is a spare part compatibility problem with this engine and a standard 126, OK the head is different, push rod tubes are not the same, what else? the good thing is that you can put a panda 30 head easy on it and increase power although panda 30 must have a different cam also. I also like the fan casing a lot.
