I did, and it worked like magic.:)

I thought so, one of them by the rear spring is a bit difficult to get to but I am sure I will manage to get in there. Fortunately the rubber pipe that joins the heater pipe to the car came off in one piece, which is more than can be said for the jubilee clips that I must have put on over twenty years ago, so progress stalled until I source some more. I am 99% sure I have some in stock amongst all my 500 bits but my filing system isn’t very good and consists more of boxes full of random parts.

I have just install all the original 500 ducting and connect it with the 650 engine and 650 housing. When i am opening the heater flap i hear the sound of the engine inside the cabin. Is this common to your cars?

Strangely I connected up mine last week on the 650 engine and it is a lot more pronounced than it is with the 500 engine. The only reason I can think of, is the different angle of the heater pipe leaving from the thermostat housing?

I guess with bigger engine you get more sound, I remember I didn't hear any sound out of the duct when I got the 500 on. Did you used the 500 tube or the 650/N alternative as the one that Peter posted here. I am thinking to buy the N type to get more clearance if it is a direct replacement.

Thomas I think Peter used the 500 thermostat housing on his 650 engine? Therefore he needed the longer rubber tube. I needed the one that is advertised as being about 150mm as the two ends of the metal pipes are much closer. I had various rubber tubes of different lengths and cut one down to fit, it has a slight kink in it but when I started the engine I wanted to see if it was affecting the airflow at all. Which is when I picked up on the engine noise being slightly louder and it didn’t seem to affect the airflow.

I am using the 650 housing and the 500 long rubber tube which I shortened about a cm because it was burned. Fits ok and have plenty of flow.

Might be worth adding (although I'm sure most are aware), but there's a small rubber insulator that goes over the battery wire on the starter motor.

I've seen a number of 500's with 126 setup's and missing this piece. The starter cable which is grounded looks perilously close to that terminal and I guess if shorted out, it would take out the starter cable.
