[FONT=&quot]The car that I have didn’t have any parts of sunroof when I bought it, so I don’t know how it is supposed to be installed[/FONT].

How is the front bar meant to be fixed to the body? I’ve got these bolts for the fixing, but is the sliding part (marked with an arrow) supposed to be fixed so that it wouldn’t move when opening and closing the roof.
[FONT=&quot]If I tighten the bolt, the roof bar will make a contact with the paintwork, so is there some parts that I’m missing, maybe some washer? [/FONT]

I have attached the sunroof assembly from the Fiat factory parts manual.

This is the way they were originally fitted to my car.
The two outers are spring washers with a plain one between.
The shoulder of that special stud bears on the plain washer putting pressure on the spring washer close to the paintwork, hence locking it in place.
The other spring washer then bears in the sunroof closing bar and prevents it from rattling but allows it to be free.

Can anyone confirm what the correct original fabric is for the sunroof? I've seen both mohair and canvas advertised with a big price difference.

Hi. I am new (first post). An answer and a question. Original roof was canvas I believe. And a question: I have a 500D with the short canvas roof. I am not sure how to put the strap on. I have a hook at the back on the roof for one end to clip over, but am not sure what the other end attaches to. Does anyone have pictures of the connection points for the strap? (and i have the part manual above but can't see it from that). Thanks from a newbie.

Hi Petunia ? and a warm welcome to the forum.

I'm also an owner of Ds and I've attached a couple of pictures that I hope will answer your question. You can see in the picture how the strap is mounted by screws into the rear face of the roof cross beam. The second photo shows the strap in place holding the folded roof.
