Hi all,

Does anyone know where I can find a shift lever for my 1963 600 D Multipla? The lever literally snapped in half as I was pulling the car up on a trailer to go to my first show with it.. The factory part number is 879390 and it looks identical to the 500 lever, but I can't confirm that it is the same part.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Cas,

From the book I have the part number for a 500 is 4290744 so it looks like there is some difference between the Multipla and the 500 parts.(n) If you can't get a replacement, or until you can, can't you not get your lever welded?

Whilst the 500 and 600 (including Multipla) gear-lever/linkage look the same, I think that you will find that the 600 lever is 1 size bigger. As Ian Emery suggests, why not get it welded? You could hide the weld either by getting the lever powder-coated or sleeved with some thin-wall Chrome tubing. Welded by someone who knows what they are doing will result in a lever as strong as the original. What might be worth finding out is--why did it break? I have never heard of this happening before.

Thanks guys. May try to weld it. Can't explain how it broke, but broke very clean across the diameter. ???
