Hi,

I'm trying to replace the washer pump but the knee pad obscures the fittings.
I'm not sure if it's glued or clipped in. Anyone know how to safely remove the knee pad?

Thanks

I believe it is bolted on from inside the front hood behind the petrol tank.

There's two types of pad depending on the year but I think they both use the same system. There are are several, equally-spaced, 5mm studs which are bonded to the pad and poke through holes to the back of the dash. The tiny nuts rust onto the studs which may snap or might ready be damaged. So the pad may be fully or partially stuck on.

Thanks Guys,

I managed to remove the knee pad by undoing the bolts on the petrol tank side. The bad news is that to get at the bolts you need to remove the wiper motor first. At least I know how to replace the motor now if I ever need to ;-)

Aftermarket electric pump and bottle removed, original manual pump and bag plumbed in and the windscreen is clear!

I've attached some pics if someone needs to remove the knee pad in future. Note: the red picture was flipped upside down after I uploaded it.

:)

Just done mine too on my RHD 500-F.

You can just reach the nuts for the driver's side pad by undoing just the lowest 2 bolts on the wiper motor.

I've stripped the vinyl off and re-covered mine. I thought about replacing the foam too, but then didn't fancy carving a piece to the right shape, so i've re-used the existing foam which was ok on the long piece but a bit rotten on the shorter piece. Also the metal was pretty rusty on the shorter piece.
