Hey guys.

Bit stuck for parts down here in aus.

I am looking for a twin choke inlet manifold so I can fit it to a 40 DCOE Webber
and a modified timing case oilcooler with screw on filter attachment.
I have emailed a few vendors like fiat500sport dot com but not heard anything back. FD ricambi is out of stock and ricambio is stupid expensive for me..

Also I don't know if I can fit the one that axel supplies as it seems just a bit off from a design standpoint and it looks better suited to a panda 30 head because of the stud placement.

Please advise.

Kind regards

GIR

Hi GIR;
For the 'spin-on' oil-filter try Nanni Ricambi in Italy, although they are difficult to get to respond if you are not in Italy (I am lucky, I have a good friend who lives in Italy). Another way to look at the problem is to buy one of the simple 'take-offs' and then make up you own remote spin-on filter assembly. These simple 'take-offs' are through-bolted with the oil-pump, and a 7mm hole drilled into the casing at the designated point. There is a bit of machining needed on the timing-cover to give you flat bases where the bolts go. The seal between the take-off and the timing-cover is a simple 'O' ring rubber seal.
With regard to the Weber 40, unless you have fairly highly tuned the engine, you might find the '40' a bit too big, and difficult to set up properly. Try a '35' (Solex 35PHH)--as were fitted to the little Lancia Fulvia. The advantage of the '35 is that 2 of these were fitted to the 1300 Fulvias--and 1/2 of 1300 is----650cc! Whatever you fit, don't forget that it will need supporting or you will break the inlet manifold. If you do decide to go the '35' route I can put you in contact with somebody who has a custom made stainless-steel inlet manifold for a '35' and the standard, 3 port head. That person supports the carb/manifold with a couple of braces from the valve-cover studs to the carb/manifold bolts--very neat.

G'day, I'm in the preliminary stages of converting my engine to be 800cc, I know of a lot of mini people so I can score one of those 40 dcoe webbers quite cheap as they ran on the 900cc minis. I have tried nanni ricambi but as you said they are hard to get hold of.

Hi GIR, speak to Torsten at ilmotore.de - I've just had an engine built by him for me in Sydney. He is an absolute guru, and has the manifolds and external oil casing you are after. He's based in Germany but has excellent English.
