Re: carburettor

The 28 will work fine. Its just a bigger throat. 28mm compared to 26mm

Have a look here -

Might not answer your question, but may help if rebuilding.

Re: carburettor

Long story short yes you can. There is no need for a 28 IMB unless you want to go with bigger pistons.

If you choose the 28 IMB, you will have to either block off the return line from the carb or make a t-line to dump residule gas back into the system. Reason is, the 28 IMB was designed for the Fiat 126 and it had a return fuel line from the carb to the tank. The 500 L does not have this feature.

Re: carburettor

So that would be a 28M30. Not sure how all the linkage would fit, especially the choke, but most of all I am not sure the base would match up right.

Re: carburettor

On the Weber 28M30 carburetor, the base looks very similar in size, but the throttle linkage is on the wrong side vis-a-vie the mixture screw. If you have easy access to the mixture screw, the throttle linkage is at the FRONT of the engine, so you would have to redesign the linkage. It is also a bit taller than the 26/28imb, so you would have to do a bit of head scratching regarding the inlet filter or trumpet---a short S.U. trumpet with the mounting plate removed might do the job.
