have been restoring my 500F for some time ( like years!!) but have forgotten how the wiring feeds to the interior light. Does it channel up the windscreen posts internally or simply hides behind the windscreen rubber seals internally on both sides ?

I have just this afternoon fished mine up the windscreen pillar on my 500L.

It looked like the easier option, as there is a hole next to the mirror mount, where the wire can stick out.

Now I remember what the hole is for, a grommet:eek:.

Wasted effort getting wire there.

Tuck it in behind rubber.

Memory is a great thing.

Got there in the end, and it works, which is a bonus.

I keep doing lots of small jobs, still buying loads of bits, hope it all fits. Doors are a real pain, can anyone enjoy rebuilding doors?

Getting there slowly, bit of chrome always helps.

interesting you mentioning the doors - that's the next job I've got to do - not looking forward to it at all as I didn't strip the glass/trim/locks etc prior to painting, the chap who painted it did that some years ago. He now lives in France! However they are the original ones for the car - I hear new ones don't fit very well ?

I have finished my doors today, second one is easier.

Perhaps there should be a Sticky for door assembly.

Here is how I did it.

1. Fit lock and opening handles
2. Fit lockside glass guide.
3. Loosly fit quaterlight housing, no screws yet.
4. Fit 8 trim clips to each side of opening, 2 close to trim ends.
5. Fit ali trims (make sure wiper strips are not too long)you will need to move quaterlight housing, as trims go go under it in 2 places.
6. Fit glass, curved corned to rear, push up untill regulator guide is level with regulator cut out. Fit regulator, turn spindle to align regulator with cut out.
7. Wind glass fully up, fit 2 screws to quater light housing, fit quaterlight rubber (soapy water), fit quaterlight and rivet.
8. Fit lower glass guide, locate on edge of glass, then push up untill bottom hole aligns.
9. Fit lock rod and knob.
10. Fit bottom window stop rubber.

That is about it I would say.
