You're right Tony, it was early and very dark. Me and Mile-Munching-Murphio had a long journey to do. We are currently in the most northerly part of the iland of North Uist in the Ooter Hebrides.
Well I got around to do the engine test today and it started really well considering it has been stripped down and the crankshaft was the only thing that wasn't removed.
I did get the statuary mouth full of petrol siphoning it down to the fuel pump.
All the oil leaks appear to have been resolved. It did have a bit of a mind of its own sliding around on the towel it was resting on. Yet again it was in gear as it is a real pig to get in neutral without having all the linkage in place to get the extra leverage required.
You will have to forgive my where's Wally look but it was cold.

It seems the preferred method of bench testing a 500 lump is to stick the sump in the middle of an old tyre and it works a treat. I didn't have one but I did notice 2 dumped in a field recently but I couldn't remember where they were so could retrieve one for my test!
Crumbs you have been on a bit of a hike. I take it there was plenty of room on the ferry for Murphio.
Believe it or not I have actually been there, when RAF Benbecula was still open
Very nice, I quite like the slow motion version! Still not managed to fire mine up as life got busy all of a sudden. Hopefully find some time next week.
