Does anyone have the exact details of mechanical parts/mods used by Radbourne to convert a 500 into a 595SS Abarth?

The Hobbler will know. He used to work at Radbourne. PM him

This is what I have so far for the 595....what am I missing?
I guess perhaps an alloy sump, and rocker cover...what else??

Don't quote me on this but I think the 595ss used the solex 34pbic (595 used the solex 28). 595 output was 27 bhp, 595ss was 32 bhp.

Colm.

Hi Dannyy;
I have e-mailed you privately regarding this query--Colm is correct, the Solex 28 was only used on the '595'--the 34PBIC was used on the '595ss' and all variants of the '695'/'695ss'. Look forward to hearing from you.

a few days late, but I want to add:
as far as I found out, a Solex 28 PBJ or even PBI never was produced.
I think, that should be false information, even in the "ABARTH 595 695" book of Deganello/Donati

For some time I thought it could be a Solex 28 PIB from Fiat 600, but that type does not fit on the Fiat 500.

But what is fitting very well is the Solex C 28 IB-2 and I am happy I found one some years ago ;)
That is the carb that had been mounted on the "small" Abarth 595...
The ABARTH 595 esse-esse had the Solex F34-PBIC with its very special jetting

Hi Danny;
By the time I joined Radbourne Racing, we were fitting 'NARDI' conversion kits, I think mainly due to the very high cost of the Abarth kits--don't forget we had that thing called 'Import duty' in those days. In fact the Abarth prices were such that the '850tc' (based on the Fiat 600 body), bought as a complete car from the factory, was the same cost as an 'E-Type' Jaguar!! We didn't sell many!
Radbourne used to buy the Fiat 500s new, and then fit the contents of the wooden box sent over from Italy. I have seen 1 of these cars, and know where it is kept. I can't remember front discs ever being an option--they were only just coming through on the 850tc and 1,000tc models.
I have copies of a couple of the conversions Radbourne Racing did utilising the Abarth conversion pack--if you would copies of them, contact me direct and I will put copies into the post.

According to the book by Gianfranco Bossu, the 595 had a Solex C28IB2, but the 595ss was homologated with the Solex 34PBIC.
