Hi, another Blue 500 up for grabs in Buxton UK.
Been listed under parts rather than classic cars

Strange place to advertise it Sean. It looks tidy enough but it looks the sort of car you described in one of your first posts. It looks like it has a quick blast over of paint on the outside, as it has overspray all over the door lock strike plates. Doesn't look like it has had any paint in the engine bay or bonnet. I wouldn't pay that sort of money for it as, you don't what lies beneath?

Tony

dvla incorrectly list its tax band as £145 which as we all know is £0 ((interesting article 27/3 re tax discs and auto refunds on selling a car and new owners have to apply for a new tax disc before the vehicle can be used on the road -- so imagine - go see a car decide you want it - mot'd YES, insurance - need to confirm the car is still insured by the vendor or you can get it covered whilst negotiating the purchase (driving it on your 'allowed to drive other vehicles' no longer allowed on its own - the car itself has to be insured) & NOW you have to tax it as well - 'on line 24/7' -- with just a 10 minute review of this change I see some negative impact on private car sales +/or an increase in legal infringements getting your new pride and joy home

I see your eye sight is not failing yet Tony, did you notice the bonnet gap, looking at it side on you would think the bonnet is open. As you said looks shiny! but there is a lot there that needs to be put right.
That's one of the reasons I bought mine as a junker, I know what I was getting for the right price and I new what I was going to have to replace.
Still if someone was looking for an on the road project without too much to do I guess you are looking over £3500.
They may have difficulties getting a buyer with it listed under parts. I know when I do a search I usually include Fiat 500 Classic otherwise you get every new Fiat 500 part come up. Pain really as it makes searching rather painfull & slow.

Agree Sean. Didn't notice the bonnet gap but to me it's a lazy attempt at making it look good. How difficult is it to take the strike plates off to stop overspray, it's only 3 screws. The bonnet rubber has been put on shabbily and it has the wrong badge on it for its year!!!

But that's me I am a pain in the butt for detail I am afraid. My mantra is if you are going to do it, do it right. That's what I was referring to in my last post, the fact that you have bought a 500 that needs a lot of metal work doing, means you know doing it yourself means it will be done properly, especially in your case.

If you look on my thread on the other website I have got really sad about changing the light lens screws for non rusty ones!!!!!!!

At the risk of sounding very 'picky'---surely the engine cover 'nuovo 500' badge doesn't normally have a big kink in it, does it?

Picture taken in the rain - therefore better shine ?! Old crossply on the spare...
Oddly mounted front numberplate and later front panel / badge... well bent rear emblem...

Am I right in thinking this has been "restored" by Bodgit & Scarper ???

It does look one of their pieces of work. Funny thing is, is it isn't raining, the ground is bone dry. Looks like someone has chucked a bucket of water on it, to give the desired shiny effect. If it was a decent paint job they would have at least dry it off.
