Dear all,

I have a friend of mine, who wants to build a custom exhaust system for his Fiat 500F (1968). As he does not like the aftermarket parts, he is looking for a handmade, complete exhaust system, but still he has no idea, who to trust in. In my country (Hungary) it's almost impossible to find a reliable "garage" to do this job.

My queston is, what is the normal price for a complete set including the exhaust manifold, silencer, pipes, etc? He is looking for the best quality, handrafted stainless steel parts. Google just wont help me, I can not compare the prices.

Any advices are welcome.

Morning Vamp;
I had a custom stainless-steel exhaust system (with balanced, equal length down-pipes) for £375.00p I have used the original exhaust manifolds but it is possible to make systems that bolt straight onto the cylinder head. Spend some time on u-tube sites (try classic fiat abarth 595/695 engines)--they will give you some good ideas. If you get one made, try and use the original Fiat exhaust mounting brackets/clamps--makes for a much easier job. There are a number of reputable companies here in the UK, but for this job they would most probably need a crankcase/ head assembly to use as a jig. I was lucky, and was able to lend my exhaust people my spare engine. I hope this helps you, best of luck

Many thanks for your answer! Did the 375£ include the fees of work?

Hi Vamp;
The £375 was the total bill, parts and labour included! The lads made me a well made exhaust that sounded good as well---fruity, but not enough to attract the attention of the boys in blue. That price was 1 year ago, so it might have gone up a little bit, but not by too much.
