Hi being new to the Fiat scene can anyone tell me does a Polish 126 (1978) have an Italian engine and gear box or where they made in Poland? If so are they any good for use in a 500 conversion if car is beyond repair?

A 1978 126 could be either Italian or Polish - if it's a 126P it's Polish but you'll need to check the VIN No. to be sure. The Italian parts are thought to be generally better quality but the Polish parts are still plenty good enough. The bits are perfect for a 500 conversion to 650 which is what I'm upto at the moment - although my 650 parts are from a later car (1997) with no distributor. Most parts seem interchangeable from Italian to Polish and vice versa - carbs, fuel pump, alternator/dynamo, distributor, tinware, fan...
Lots of advice on here about the conversion.
