Question 650cc engine shrouding

I'm doing an engine swap on my '72 500L, the new 650cc engine has a hole in the shrouding between the fuel linkage pivot and the carburator, there are 2 studs near it as if something bolts over the hole. I'm wondering what belongs there? The 500cc engine has no hole in the top shrouding.
thnks for any help

Re: 650cc engine shrouding

I've not got a hole there on either my 500 or 650 tinware. The one on the exhaust side is for the thermostat.
Chris

Re: 650cc engine shrouding

Thankyou Chris. I'm not crazy about the hole being there, though it looks purposeful.
