Technical Reuse or new big end rod bearings?

Hey guys,

Got the pistons back into the cylinder after doing a rehone. The head has been cleaned up and ready to go. But how do the condition of these big end connecting rod bearings look? I don't know how old they are.

What do you guys think before I order something that is still good.

They look pretty badly scored to me.

I would replace them as a minimum.

I didn't really get a chance to inspect the crankshaft. What do you guys think of the quality of parts from Mr.Fiat

I must admit that having gone this far, I'd be replacing them. You will need to get the bearing surfaces on the crank measured as well to see if they are worn.

Parts from Mr Fiat are OK.

What should I be measuring for? Taper, out of round, and what else? I plan to get new rod bearings and do plasticguage to measure the clearance between crank and bearing.

Here are some pictures of the crank in the engine.

Mainly out of round because as the engine is fundamentally unbalanced the crank bearing surfaces will wear eccentrically.
I took mine to the local Engineering works and they ran the electronic calipers over it. As it was within tolerance, I just replaced the main and big end bearings.
