Hi.

My 500 is currently undergoing some restoration and is due a full repaint. The car was originally yellow. I'd like to return the car to its original color but there is no color code at the plate.

Could you please tell me the color code of these cars?

Thank you. :)

This is my car.

I also like these cars' color.

Thank you but there are many yellows there ;
246 Tufo yellow August 1974 August 1975
247 Yellow (Agip)
276 Tahiti yellow November 1971 November 1973
278 Yellow Mustard November 1973 August 1974

I need to know which yellow is the correct one.

:)

There are a couple of things that you can do -

Have a look at the ID plate attached to the car - usually found where the VIN is stamped, above fuel tank upper right hand side of front compartment. On it will be the original chassis number, engine number, a number for spare parts and a paint colour code. You can cross reference the colour code with the list you have and hopefully get the original colour of the car. If there is no code on the plate, it's down to educated guesswork.

Either that or chip off a bit of paint and take it to a panelbeater. They will be able to match the colour. Their job will be made easier if you can narrow the field and give them only a few choices. If you know the year of manufacture - it looks like an early 500F, 1965 - 1970 maybe - this will restrict the choices even further. I'm guessing but the most likely colour from your list would be 247 Yellow.

It looks as though it will be a good restoration project.

Good luck,
Chris

Hello,

The V/N is 110F - 2139787

Unfortunately, there is no color code on the plate.

I'll try to get better photos.

Thank you,

Toon,
From the VIN your car is a 499cc 500F
The last 7 digits of the VIN identify the chassis number since start of production - yours is the 2,139,787th chassis. From my information chassis numbers 2,011,358 to 2,362,389 (351,031 units) were constructed in 1969, so I guess yours is an early 1969 model.
Unfortunately as the colour code has been torn off the ID plate, you're back to taking a sample in to get matched.
I've attached a photo of what a complete ID plate looks like.

Thanks Chris. (y)

1969 so, should it be this color? "208 Positano yellow September 1968 to November 1972"
Oh, it's too orange. :p

I may choose "247 Yellow (Agip)" or "278 Yellow Mustard".
Does anyone have a photo of a 500 in this color (or a link to one) or the example color (or color chart) of them?

Thanks, ;)
Toon
