Hey guys,

Doing my first oil change in the states after I have brought it over from Italy.

You guys think this oil would cause any problems due to the "active cleansing ingredients?"

The oil in the car has less than 500 miles about about 7 months old.

I don't see problems with this oil.
Maybe change it sooner the first time you use it, like after 500-1000 mls, so all the dirt ( if it's present...!) will flush out.
Remember to use a new oilfilter every oil change and you'll be fine.

Hello Everybody!

I read on a forum for WV that the best sutable oil for aircooled engine is 15/40, but, dosent it depend on where you are located?
I mean, living in denmark is not the hottest place on earth, so the recomandation might just be for us.
This i a subject that, proberly have a lot of feelings into it, can envolve pretty fast.
So, eny experiance from other owners would be of great value.

I, and most people I think, use 20/50w. Some people, especially with tuned engines, use 10/60w.

I've used Mobil 1, 10W60, which makes the engine quieter and seems to tick all the boxes for our engines as they clearly run hotter than most. But there are arguments against tinkering with the original specification and I would recommend anyone to use 20W50 unless they have the inclination to look into it and decide for themselves.
At the time that I rebuilt my engine I happened to be in our local motor factors for service parts for my modern car. So I picked up their Comma X-Flow 20W50 for about £12 (Mobil 1 around £50 ). I looked up the data sheets and it seems that this product actually contains more of the beneficial additives than Comma's own classic oil. That oil is rumoured to be the one manufactured and branded as Halford's Classic Oil at £20. It's not 100% clear, but I find some suggestions that if you get an oil with a rating beyond "SL", then you might be buying one with reduced amounts of the anti-wear additives particularly required by our older egines.
After a copious amount of reading on the subject there seems to be a consensus that it is wise to choose oil carefully but wiser still to change it as frequently as very 3000 miles or each year if you're not a high mileage person.

Any reason you guys are recommending 20W-50 over 20W-40 or 10W-30?

Fiat recommended 20W-40 multigrade if you were between the temp ranges of 0c to 35c+

or 10W-30 if you were in the range of -15c to 0c.

I know a lot of the 500s in Italy run 15w-40, I myself was going to use Shell Rotella 15W-40 on my next oil change here in Florida.

2.5 litres of oil in an air cooled twin busy twin cylinder engine? We've come a long way since the factory specifications of 20w40.
I use 20w 60. That extra 10 helps keep it cool at extreme conditions.
