General Lost Steering Lock Key!? Fiat 500L 1972 :(

Help!! I lost my key for my steering lock which is incorporated into the steering column and have no spare so can't move my car. Do you sell the barrel for the steering lock as i'm not sure what to do, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as i'm totally stuck as no one seems to know what to do or can seem to cut a new key for the barrel....a whole new steering column perhaps? (left hand drive)

Hi and a welcome to the forum the fiat forum isn't owned by fiat we are an enthusiasts forum and have no connection to fiat

As for your problem the old / classic cars have none of the complex key cuts/ immobiliser technology only thing I can think of is to dig the yellow pages out and look up auto locksmith any good one should be able to knock you a key up to fit

Will get this moved to the dedicated classic 500 section for you to see if anyone has a better idea

oh yes, sorry, cut and pasted an email i'd sent to a garage, a mechanic tried to show it to some locksmiths but no avail...argh! has this not happene to anyone? xxx

could always search for "how to drill a lock out" in google plently of videos on how to do it.
