So I own a '67 (F-model) i think. anyway, owned it for almost a year now, bought here in Sicily. It's in Fantastic condition and runs extremely well. I was told when I bought it, it had the 126 engine conversion/swap in it. It didn't really matter to me so I never "verified". Today a buddy of mine, VVatc on the forums, relieved a friends landlord of a fiat engine in the corner of his garage. I was looking up engine tags to see exactly what we have.....short story long..here.

I checked the engine tag on my own engine and it truned out to be a 110F.000, which according to the books is a 499ccm. I often refer to my 500 as a Frankenstien, because so much about it is, well lets say not factory. I'm convinced that the motor is not an ordinary 499, but the block at least is. Is it possible for the "top half" to be a 126, you know bigger pistons etc...

Some other peculiar oddities:
- Has ignition key on the left and side of the steering column
- Has 500R or 126 steel wheels, wide bolt pattern
- Rear wheels don't sit "centered" in the wheel wells
""possible longer swing arms??
- It's faster than the stock 500's around the island
- Has syncronous tranny, no double shifting.

Any help on how I can figure out exactly what kind of engine I have would be great.

Thanks,

KC

Dynamo, generator.... so I know it's not a straight 126 motor...where can I look on the head or cylinders to spot the differences?

tks,

If it's a 649cc 126 head, it has "650" on the bottom left hand corner of the cylinder head casting.

Hope this helps...... seems odd that it has a dynamo though.

Ours has a 650cc 126 engine, but the gearbox has synchro on 2nd 3rd and 4th only - not on 1st.

Oh, and the drive shafts are slightly thicker - can remember the actual measurement.
