i know that this should be posted in the radio section, but the 500 is so small and i think that it is interesting to see how and where people installed speakers as well as radio.

thanks - pat

That is quite a HotRod you got there Pat. (y)
We wanted music also but something that wouldn't take away from the classic look of the car. What we came up with was an ipod mount in the ashtray. It is quickly removable and when the ashtray is closed it looks original. For the amp and speakers I used a motorcycle system mounted under the dash. Only 4 small bolt holes were drilled, preserving as much of the car as possible. At first it didn't work untill I learned about ground loops. Once I installed a ground filter we were cruising to 60s Italian music.

wow, that looks great! the previous owner had cut this whole in the dash board, so i really had no choice in the matter, the speaker were put in the back panels i will definitely post pics later. Its always interesting to see how people have their radios set up as.

Hey you guys have given me a thought for our Giardiniera...

In garage we have all manner of random auto n audio 'stuff'....i just took a look....;)

How about an Ipod ready Alpine head unit with JBL 500w car stereo amp driving Peavey Hi-Sys enclosures sat in rear load area (15" black widow bass units and 22xt compression horns), with sunroof open to share the joy??....Rock on!! :slayer:

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm wife says 'not'......

that sounds crazy but you might have to install a cylinder of some sort for the power issue.

I'm just about complete with my custom system, awaiting some 8" subwoofers to arrive....will post pics.

Waaay to go!!! have you made enclosures or where are you fitting those puppies...(y)

I think I am a bit stuffed on my audio thoughts...the Giard dynamo is within the air cooling tinware and it may prove impossible to fit a 126 dynamo...Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm :bang:

(y) Thanks for the compliment. But once the Sub gets here I will get a better view of where i want to mount it. I would prefer it to be hidden or somehow blend in with the car's interior. But to save on your Dyno or alternator, you could (should) add a small capacitor (1/2). I'm also using a small Amp (size wise) which fit perfectly. For a car this small anything over 500 watts is basically overkill. Here are some photos from my install.

Heres my finished install. I have painted the CD dash mount to match the exact color of the car.

All looking good there from the pix...(y)

thanks for the advice about the capacitor, I have no idea why it should be fitted. Can you advise how it will aid dynamo output?

I understand the centre console from a 126 will fit and will try that first, as I have 1 or 2 gathering dust in rear of garage.....:slayer:

The capacitor aids the alternator by supplying power directly to the amp. So instead of your amp using a large amount of your vehicles power, it will also draw power from the cap. The cap gets recharged from your battery. So in essence, the cap acts as a second battery, but made specifically for your amplifier.
