Interesting how sales of classic 500's on Ebay seems to be seasonal.

I know all about the 'credit crunch' that may be slowing sales of pretty much everything.

However, classic 500's do seem to change hands for a lot more money in the spring and "summer" :ROFLMAO:

Anyway, a couple I have been watching:

In need of a bit of TLC:

and quite a nice example in an unusual colour:

and another one on a classified ad:

1971 Fiat 500 650 Engine electronic ignition question

First time on the site and I know I will get some great answers here. I have a 1971 Fiat 500 with a 650 engine. I am tired of the points and condensor and want to change it out to an electronic ignition. Any ideas if this is worth it? Also any site or places that have what you suggest at a good price?

Thanks in advance,
Robert

TOTALLY WORTH EVERY PENNY !!!! They seem expensive, but are worth it in the fact, that you know evrytime you put the key in, it will start - Ive had mine on for some months now, its been great !
The cheapest seems to be from chet on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FIAT-500-126-...14&_trkparms=72:1301|66:3|65:12|39:1|240:1318

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FIAT-500-126-...14&_trkparms=72:1301|66:3|65:12|39:1|240:1318

This on is the cheaper option, if youre willing to do the swap yourself, as far as I know its quite easy to do. It seems theyve increased loads in price since i bought mine last year - quite a shock when i looked. Still worth it though !!(y)

Reason for the price hike is because these units are made in the Netherlands (I think) and the currently disastrous Euro to GBP exchange rate has resulted in higher prices.

Can only echo what pandavan says - I fitted one of these to our car and the difference is amazing.

Much more reliable, and seems to pull better.
