I am eager to know if there are any other 127 owners out there. I have one but they seem to be very rare now. Would like to talk to fellow owners past and present.

Ive got 1, its solid as a rock but is a rolling project as needs paint, I use it as my daily, rain or shine! Ive just bought some bits to tune the 1050 engine, new port and polished head, forged pistons, new cam, solid lifters, electronic ignition, bike carb manifold, and exhaust mani! Hopefully around 100bhp but who knows!

I wonder if these engines can be supercharged? like the old mini A series engine?

Great to hear your using it everyday. I can't remember the last time I saw one on the road. Sounds like with all the mods you have done a supercharger would be ok. The 1050cc is a strong little engine in standard form.

Excellent I had a silver 127 sport in the 1980 s and a whole string on 127 s you could buy them then for less than £100 ,I still see the odd one's on e bay for a small fortune.,post some more photos ,orange is the best possible colour for a car.

I've got a white one. Originally from Italy so LHD. Its a 903 but I've completely stripped it and plan to make it into replica Sport, I've got most of the parts, just need to get my 1301 engine and head done plus the wheels need refurb. I'm keeping it white, so after its respray it should look good.
I'm going to need plenty of help and advise so, the more owners I can find the better!

You do realise the Sport had a 1049cc engine don’t you? The same Brazil one as the 1050CL, but with different cam/head to produce 70bhp instead of 50bhp.

They also never came in white, but I’m sure you know that. (y)

It was the mk3 GT which used a 1301cc engine and 5 speed ‘box.

When I said replica, I should have said to create something that pays tribute to the original Sport but with a few subtle differences- like colour, wheels and engine, stuff that many 127 enthusiasts are doing nowadays ??

Good to see you are doing something different to the norm! I toyed with the idea of having a Uno turbo engine in mine but thought as there wasn't many 1050CL's left that I wouldn't but who knows in the future! Its a shame the forum hasn't got a 127 section as it took me a while to filter through the "other Fiats" section but hey ho!

Be good to see how you progress, keep us updated!

Can't believe there have been so many replies, to be honest I wasn't expecting to get any, particularly as there is no 127 area on the site, can we make this happen?

Lovely Palio and CL by the way, and great to here people are still restoring them. I know of a Black Sport being restored at the moment, but I have never seen any at the shows I attend. I am hoping to display mine at the Silverstone Classic this year and the NEC Classic Motor Show, if I can find a club interested in having it.

Here are a couple more pictures, I just love it, takes me back to my youth.

I think there’s a button at the top of this section to request a new 127 section isn’t there?

I’ve had 127’s up at the NEC before (mine because there don’t seem to be any others offered), but an orange sport would be great. Generally speaking you’d need to be a member of the Fiat Motor Club (G.B.) though. I haven’t yet sorted out the cars for March (due to work commitments), so if you get your skates on that’s a possible! (y)

So you put together the display then? I am happy to join the Fiat GB club, I will do it tonight. What is the March date? I thought the Motor Show was in November. My skates are on!

Yes, for my sins!

We've just had the stand contract for March. More info is below - the cars go up on the Thursday morning and can drive out after the show closes Sunday evening. I mentioned it mainly because I'm going to be sorting out the cars in the next week or two. (y)

The resto show is more hands on, and anything is fine - from original unrestored cars, restorations, or sheds on wheels. It's not as big as the November one, which is a bit more glitzy and tends to have nice cars on display. Both are possibles - one doesn't discount the other by the way!

If you're on facebook, please join the Fiat Motor Club group and make yourself known - we can more easily pm on that system if you use it.

This is what mine looked like before. It’s totally rust free (almost), just has little dents and scuffs on every panel. Alloys are gone -not a fan. Should be resprayed soon, watch this space...

What wheels are you putting on?

Not sure yet. I’ve got a set of Palio wheels as a back up (I think they’re the best factory alloy for this car)
I’m still undecided. Minilites (or ultralites) are v nice, I like the Punto gt alloys too. I had a set of dark grey 14’ Lancia alloys, not sure if they were from a Y10 or Dedra, but ended up selling them.
All I know is, is that the deep dish looks really good on a 127.

Yes, the original Sport steels actually look good. The Palio ones were a cost option on the Sport though, so those are the 2 correct ones for a mk2 127.

I've often wondered about 3 different wheels on the 127 but have never seen them fitted. The early Strada steels I think would work well (oddly I've just been offered a spare set!), as well as the Uno/Panda OE option alloys, or the Alfasud 13" alloys.

What do you reckon about how any of these would work on a 127?

I think they all look good actually
I'm a member of a few 127 groups on Facebook and you get to see so many different styles of wheels put on the 127 and I have to say, there aren't many that look right on the car. Its always safe to stick with Fiat wheels (or Alfa/Lancia/Ferrari) of the same era
I'm tempted to go with my original gut feeling and go for the 131 steel wheel
