Hi all I have a quick question. I have a fiat 127 mk1 for restoration and I like to change the instruments of the dash to have a review counter, but not in a ugly way. I was thinking to fit the instruments of a fiat 124 sport coupe and fit the 3 small gauges as well.
Do anyone of you know if this is possible due to electrical wiring?? Any ideas how to fit a rev counter in a proper way? I want it to look like it came out of the factory like that.
Any help or advice is greatly appreciated
Cheers :)

Take the rev counter off any old Fiat (124, 128, 850 coupe). Wiring is quite simple, they just get the signal from the ignition coil.

Speedo might possibly read incorrectly but an instrument specialist can probably alter/adjust it to suit. Check out revs/mile or km or turns/mile or kilometer to see if adjustment will be required. This number is printed usually at the bottom of the speedo face. Check if both speedo cables use the same fitting at the speedo. Iirc, both use a nut/collar but idk if they're the same size.

Biggest problem I would foresee is fabricating an instrument binnacle? to house the Fiat 124 Sport Coupe instrument panel and fit the shape of the dashboard top as if it came from the factory. Can be done but takes time. Any experience of glassfibre work?

Are there any later 127's e.g. 127 Sport that used a revcounter whose instrument panel and maybe dashboard top could be fitted to your Mk1?

Yes there is later models that had a rev counter but the red and yellow lines doesn't make sense. Because the sport had a more revving engine than the push rod engine.
And regards the dashboard it's not a problem cause I'm still going to use the original 127 dashboard. I'm just going to fit the instruments only. Something like this guy did.
