Hi everyone I'm currently on the hunt for a twin ignition coil as mine has crapped the bed, I have the wasted spark ignition setup in my 1992 126p. The one I have looks like this one --> https://webshop.fiat500126.com/en/fiat-600/electronics-und-ignition/ignition/ignition-coil-ngk but just in a twin coil setup, I've combed the internet for one like that but cannot find one anywhere! Although I did see this one on the webshop here -->https://webshop.fiat500126.com/en/t...gnition-coil-_cornered/doppelzuendspule_eckig but I'm not sure if it will work? :bang:

Has anyone on here used one of these? If so how did you wire up the series resistor and how was it to install?

The one really weird thing about the coil I have now ran just fine last summer and I only drove the vehicle for about 3 hours total due to a cracked cylinder head, witch I replaced recently. It sat around all winter with the battery and HT leads disconnected... anyways sorry to ramble I just don't understand how a coil can go bad with the battery and HT leads disconnected  unless I overheated the coil when the head gasket blew?

100% sure the coil has failed?
Have you tested it with a known good condenser?

I may have misunderstood your ignition set up so what I posted may not apply :)

The original coil you have is an oil filled/cooled one. The other one you are looking at is a dry pack coil which are generally quite reliable but best to fit with a ballast resistor which goes into circuit on the + input terminal from the ignition. I found out the hard way after two brand new dry pack Bis coils burnt out on me within a week, very expensive
On a tip off from a mate who was trialing an alternative Fiat twin spark coil I bought a couple to try along with the resistors. My pal has been using the set up for over 2 years. I have a spare if you are interested and can beat the Axel Gerstal price :)

I've been running one of these for a while:

low cost low hassle, just make sure you use a ballast resistor. I can confirm it doesn't last long without one!
