I have a fiat 126, manufactured in Poland, I think that is around 1980, all the sites that say they can date fiats ask for a 17 digit vin number, which I can not give.
The plate and body give "FSM126A1*7xxxxxx", the x's being the 6 digit serial number, Does anyone know how to date a 126 ?

Hi
Did you ever sort this query?
It looks like the asterisk between the 1 & 7 should be a number.
Have you checked the VIN plate & also (on my car) the VIN is stamped on the bodywork under the bonnet.

I bought a Polish 126 without any paperwork 2 years ago.
To register it in the UK I contacted Fiat in Italy who gave me details of someone to contact in Poland.....

We have a contact in Mopar (Fca) of Bielsko-Biala, the Poland city of the ex FSM plant; may be he could give you some info or another proper contact.
This is the e-mail (mr. Podsadecki): [email protected]

I emailed Mr Podsadecki who replied with the year the car was manufactured.
This reply had to be on headed paper (not email) to be accepted by DVLA who then issued a V5.
