Hi not sure if anyone can help me with this one! I have a 500L 1972 with a 126 650c.f. Engine, 123 ignition, Weber 40 dcoe carb, at the moment it is running on the standard mechanical pump, with very, very, difficult start problems from cold. I have been advised to fit an electric push pump under the bonnet, I need to know if it will help the starting problem? Also I would like to remove the existing mechanical pump but if I undo the two holding nuts on the pump, when I try to pull out the pump it won't come out as the alternator is in the way! It seems a big job to remove the alternator. So is it o k to just leave the old pump in situ? & re direct the fuel line into the new pump?
