I purchased a 1981 that was out for parting. The car was complete pretty complete without the canvas for the top. The car had been sitting for 30 years, but they took a stab at it 3 years prior, but failed to align the cams properly, so they gave up. I came back and cleaned everything up and corrected the alignment of the cams and idle bearing. The catalytic converter originally was clogged, but cleaned and flushed it out, so no blockage there. Later found the injector rail hoses were leaking; repaired. Then found the coil was not getting a good spark to the plugs. I have changed the coil and the spark is good to the plug. The car was running and idled very badly. There was a lot of smoke from the soot in the cylinders. The new plugs keep fouling up as there is a lot of soot from running too rich. Now it will not fire.

How can I clean or burn away the soot from the cylinders or what should be my next step?
