Hi Gang,
I have a situation that needs attention. I am visiting in Jacksonville Beach Fl. I drove my '82 Spider down from Ohio. Everything has been operating just fine, that was till yesterday. I have developed a vacuum leak that is very audible inside the car when the brakes are applied. Thirty years ago I would have started removing pieces/parts 'till I found the leak. I'm now 81 years old and not so limber. Can anyone recommend a mech in the Jacksonville area?

OK,, Maybe someone could direct me to a vacuum line schematic for the booster. The leak is not heard under the hood but is very clear inside the car. It almost sounds like the leak is in the center console, are there vacuum lines passing through there?

I just had the same problem. Don't do it. Sell the car or get a specialist to replace the booster.
It is a bastard to replace if it is your first time. I just did it and I know.
I bought one from Vick's (not expensive) and got lots of help from the fiatspider.com forum.
There is a good thread on there about it - but seriously , don't attempt it unless it is really a hobby for you and you like lying on your back in the footwell of the car and bleeding all the brakes again and again.
really i am not joking - be warned - it is as bad as replacing the exhaust on a Citroen GS !
cheers

Thanks for the reply. I did get a replacement from Vicks and yes, it is a SOB to get to. I found a place here in Jacksonville (CLASSIC CARS & REPAIR) and they took care of the replacement in one day.
