Hi all. First time posting. I have a '76 124 that is experiencing some odd idle issues. I have just completed a top end rebuild, reseal, carb rebuild and have been breaking it in for 246 miles when this happened. After parking to run an errand came back and the idle was very low - 600-700 then stalled out - prior to the stop it was at 850-900. I have rechecked base timing and ignition timing (ign timing @ 10 BTDC) the idle screw seemed a bit too far out so i went back and reset mixture, idle, fast idle and cold idle settings - i have improved it a bit but at 850 it will still stall out, seems to want to rough idle at 1K - any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Have you checked that a spark plug or lead to spark plug has not failed?

Both would account for poor idle and stalling and lumpy/rough idle at 1K rpm.

Having done a top end rebuild your valve seal and thus compression will be better that before and a non firing cylinder is going to show itself more readily.

I checked plugs and wires. Found the spark plugs fouled and one of the wires broken. Fixed those and the symptom has continued. I did find the vacuum hose from the booster to the intake would collapse when warm so I am replacing with new hose today. Thinking this may be cause of my problems.
