General I lost my only key to my 1975 Fiat I need a new one but dont want to change ignition!

:bang: I own a 1975 Spider Fiat, I think... I don't know all that much about my car but what I have found out over the Internet. Any ways I was wondering if anyone knows how I can check my cars history? I tried everywhere but everyone says that I need a 17 digit vin #. But it doesn't have 17 digit # cause its to old. Does anyone have any suggestions for either of my problems please help!confused: :bang:

a good lock smith will make you a new key by taking one of the lock barrels apart

If you write to the DVLA (and send them a fiver i think) withe the car's reg no they will send you a list of all previous owners. Then you just have to ring them one by one and ask if theyve got a spare key....

may be worth takin the barrel out and takin it to a lock smiths,ur key wouldnt have had a chip in it if its 1975,maybe they cud cut a new 1 making a mould from the existing barrel?

I just wanted to thank you for the advice and to see what the DVLA was!? Is it the motor vehicles department or something? :chin:
