Sorry for posting in classic 124 Spider area, but there is no section for my 850. Hopefully, one of you had an 850 in a prior life!

I was wondering if the tool kit (small plastic box) just laid in place between the tire and the side, or if it is secured in some way. Mine is just laying there, unsecured. If it was secured, can you provide some insight as to how? I notice there are two small holes in that area, and my car has nothing in those holes. My car is a 1968 850 Sport Spider. Thanks.

From the USA 850 Spyder handbook, I looks like it just sits there. Can't see any retaining band.

Thanks for that photo. It's funny, because I have the original "Instruction Book" for the car, and it shows a similar photo, but the tool box is on the passenger side, not the driver side, and it cannot be seen in my photo. It is just the arrow pointing to it being down there. It is also identified as "D" My photo also shows the jack on the driver side, unlike your photo, even though my jack is mounted with the rubber straps in the location shown in your photo. And, I don't have the opening in the side of the car shown in my manual, for the location of the windshield washer bottle, as that area is closed off by sheet metal and looks like your photo. The photo from my book attached. My book shows a copyright rev date of 1968, but the photos of the front of the car are that of a 67. My spare is not held in by the strap, but rather has the bolt and spin off like the photo in my book. Crazy!
