Hi all,

New guy here, hope I'm not saying anything stupid. I've got into a bit of a conundrum, courtesy of my brother. He's convinced me to split on a '73 850 Spider that I know nothing about and asked me to bring it home.

My issue is this: I don't really want to bring a tri-axle 37' float through the city to pick up the car. I have a tow dolly I was planning to use, but the narrowest point between the tire mounts is 43". I was doing some research online and it seems the spider has a 46" track width. I don't think the tires will drop down into the mounts. I've had this issue before, and what I did was unbolt the tires and bolt the rims on backwards to gain a few extra inches. Right now the car has some simple-looking steel rims on it, nothing fancy, but I'm not sure what the hub setup is like, and whether this is possible.

If anyone has any a thought/opinions I would greatly appreciate them!
Thanks!

P.S. I know I'm going to get a lot of people telling me to be wary of using a dolly on a car with a rear drive-train, but it's a standard tranny and I'm not going that far, so it shouldn't be an issue
