Well I've embarked on this little journey that some of you guys may either like, or hate me for. I'm converting the front end off that car into a CAR-B-Q.

Before I get too side tracked, I actually joined to see how to remove the headlights on there though. If anyone can help it would be great.

Having that out of the way, here's where the car is at now. Still plenty of work ahead. The car still needs to be sandblasted, then prepped for paint. It'll be painted flat black with 2 silver racing stripes. I was mocking around with a few design with spray cans. The stock gauges, ashtray, and lighter part will all be reused into the new stainless steel sheet metal that will be laser cut for it.

Once the car is completed, it will be rented out to whomever wants it. There will be a hitch on there.

Well figured out the headlight and everything else. Seems like every other bolt I touch just snaps right off ...

Here's where the car is at now for anyone that is interested in this project :)

Forgot to mention, the wheels have also been taken out to be blasted, and then I'll be powder coating them red. Should look nice with the flat black paint job and chrome caps.

Well the car is pretty much all done, and have cooked twice on there, but tomorrow is the real challenge as I think I'm up to 100 people to cook for then on it. Hope this fiat can handle the heat :)

A walk-around of it:

This isn't a very active forum though ...

So how did you get those darned headlights out? No access from the rear...

OK, for anyone finding this thread who's even dumber than I am, here's the deal. There are 3 - 10mm nuts that hold the whole headlight bucket in place. You can see the bottom one when you remove the black oval access panel. Or not, because it will probably be rusted/twisted off. The other 2 are at the upper left and right, one available only by feel, although it's not difficult. Once you have the bucket out (after disconnecting the wiring connector), it's not hard to remove the trim ring, which is held in place by some small spring ears. Then the retaining ring for the sealed beam can be removed. Loosen 3 small screws, the ring rotates a degree or two, then drops off.

It appears that the trim ring should be removable from the outside, without needing removal of the whole headlight bucket, but it didn't work well for me. I could loosen it on top with a little putty knife work, but the bottom may be too close to the fender opening surface to easily disengage.
