Hi there, I'm looking at uprating the front brakes on my 73 Spider. After several hours of researching online brake catalogues I've come to the conclusion that Fiat Uno Turbo brakes are probably the only option. They were designed to fit under 13" rims and the discs are a similar overall height to the standard disc. I've got several sets of different 'period' Cromadora rims (CD11,CD30, and CD39) so I need to stick with small diameter discs. Caliper choice is also interesting, I haven't tracked down a set of Uno T units yet, but have an old rusty pair of Tempra SW calipers that I got given. They look identical externally to the Uno T caliper but have a bigger diameter piston. I don't know much about working out hydraulic effects of this. Has anyone out there tried this conversion and have any pitfalls or advice you can offer.
Cheers
Gary

Could this be done on a 68? Or what I'm told is a 68?

One of the problems on my new old car is the brakes, it takes miles to stop and they lock so easy with the crappy tires that the car came with.

I love the classic feel of the car but I'm not a nut and wouldn't mind newer parts to make it safer.

if the wheels are locking up then you don't need new brakes, as increasing braking will lock them up further, if you say the tyres are crappy, get some decent tyres before thinking of upgrading the brakes.(y)
