My car has been down for 3 1/2 years. Every time I get the cash to fix it, I either go to jail, or I get another big speeding ticket. Next month I am selling my El Camino for $2000. That is more than enough to get her running as I have most of the parts bought already after all this time of gathering. I have only one problem: I really cant remember how to put it back together. :bang: Like I said, it has been apart for 3 1/2 YEARS!!! Anyone around East Texas that can help? I am replacing a 1.8 with a 2.0 carb from an automatic. I am having the block cleaned, then I will install new piston rings and my 1.8 cylinder head on it. I just can't remember how the timing belt tensioner installs. I REALLY don't want that to fark-up. I appreciate all input. Thanks.

several suggestions...
1. getta shop manual or two. timing belt and tensioner replacement are a commonly depicted item on every Spider shop manual.
2. getta helping hand from a local successful Fiater. a UK based forum ain't the best place to begin your Fiating journey if you live in Texas. I recommend www.fiatspider.com or my favorite North American car club Fiat Lancia Unlimited at www.flu.org

hopefully, you'll be replacing the tensioner bearing as you do this install, along with a new timing belt (they should not be reused).

Yeah, it took me a while to find a bearing, but someone told me about International Auto. The belt was easy to find, though. I also have a good manual. I just can't remember which bolts/washers go where...... I feel stoopud. Anyway, thanks.
