Hi guys and welcome to the forum.

As you can probably gather from looking through the site, the majority of our users are drivers of the newer models, however it had always been my dream to try and get the older model drives onboard.

Recently I've noticed a bit more traffic in both here and the X1/9 section and I'm hoping this can continue, it would be fascinating to learn more about the wonderful models of yesteryear.

So I encourage everyone to join up to the social group (listed just above the post listing you are looking at now) so we can see who is online and then try and get a nice bit of banter going both in here and the main forum.

Of course, remember to invite your friends too, post your car up in the https://www.fiatforum.com/members-motors/ forum and generally enjoy what we have to offer here :)

I hope to be speaking to some of you very soon!

I'm a newbie to this site and the owner of two Fiat 124 Spiders. This may become a duplicate of a post that I just attempted to make. After typing my post and trying to submit it, I was informed that I was not logged in. If the other shows up, please forgive the duplication.

I have long been a lover of cars since I got my first car at the age of fourteen while I was in high school. This was back in the dark ages, and I was able to get my drivers license before getting the car.

I currently own two Fiats. The first is a 1979 Fiat Spider 2000. The second is a red 1983 Fiat Spider Pininfarina, which I bought in 2003.

I'm presently doing some restoration on the 1979 convertible. It needs a new brown/bronze paint job, and I'm replacing the fuel tank which has developed a leak from long time storage and not being driven enough.

I'm looking forward to enjoying and learning from the long term members of this site. Thanks in advance for everything this site is offering!

I failed to indicate in my post that I'm located in the southeastern part of the U. S. and that I live in Smyrna, Georgia, just north of Atlanta, GA. I'm looking forward to seeing lots of posts from owners of the older Fiats. Thanks for having a terrific site for Fiat lovers and owners!

Just joined and just bought my first ever Fiat. a 1977 Spider! Always wanted one as a kid and just saw this one with a sign for sale yesterday. I be looking through the site for sure :)

Hi, and welcome,
:)

you guys in the America's seem to have the monopoly on these older cars now,
I'm sure parts from Europe are still readily available though, (y)

Which Province are you in..?,

Hey,
I'm from Ottawa, Ontario. It was a random impulse buy. Guy hadn't advertised I was just passing by and stopped. Very glad I did :)

Ciao,
My first new car was a 1972 124 Spider, 20 years later my second spider was a totaled (it had been in a flood) 1978. Another 20 years and I purchased 1979 Pininfarina 2000. I bought it to be my daily driver when I lived in California. It is now my summer daily driver New Hampshire. Having owned this care for eight years I'm sure you've figured out that I am an old (well not too old) fart. Alas, in my youth I was jealous of all those old men in cool cars.

I'm looking for some help. I put the car up for the winter and it was in its best shape ever. Upon taking it out of storage I now have a few, possibly connected, problems. The emergency flasher button will not stay in the OFF position, causing the lights to flash all the time (BTW the indicator lights do work). The turn signals and indicator lights do not work. Finally the high beam indicator light does not work. All the fuses have been checked and are fine.

Suggestions anyone?

Thanks

Strangely enough, I am a newbie here.... I traded my 1984 Corvette for an 80 Spider I saw sitting in some guys car collection.

That being said, I do have an issue...

"Hi, just bought this 80 Spider, well I actually traded my 84 Vette straight across for it. I think I got the better end of the deal, but I suppose value is all a matter of perspective! "

Anyhow.....

it won't start. It will run for a moment with starter fluid. So knowing that, it gets spark, and knows it is supposed to be sending a signal to the distributor/plugs to fire when I am cranking it.

I do NOT hear the fuel pump prime when I turn on the key.
I replaced the fuel pump, and when I bypass the dual relay under the glove box, the fuel pump runs.
I also replaced the dual relay.
If I move the Air Flow Sensor, the fuel pump will start. I just did this, so I haven't had a lot of time to see if that is the issue.

The issue, is that when I turn the key, there is no signal getting through to the fuel pump to turn on and pump.
Also, on a side note, none of my dash gauges work.

Any ideas?

I would suggest a routine check of the wiring going to the switch and tracing it backwards. It sounds like something as simple as a loose or broken wire. Check the current level of the battery. I know this offers very little toward a solution. Please post your results in solving the problem. My regrets for not offering more.

So far it is unsolved, but perhaps you can clear up one little question. where does the pressurized fuel line connect? to the bottom of the pressure regulator, or to the solid fuel rail by the injectors? I am thinking someone tampered with this because of the no start issue I am having. Diagrams just do not verify what I think it should be.
Thanks!

Joined today, i own a 1978 Fiat 124 Spider that I bought new. Will get a current photo up soon. New interior, suspension and exhaust. Needs paint and a new top. KW...

And by 'Spider owners' you mean Coupe owners too, right? ;)

I joined the board today to ask some advice about this '68 AC Sport Coupe I dragged kicking and screaming out of Italy last year. Been having a ball getting to know it. Thank you for maintaining the board!

I have a 72 124 spider that was stripped down to basically the body, windows and wiring. I didn't tear the car down, but received several boxes of parts new and old. I'm looking for someone that has the same car that I could get photos of the engine compartment. Also be able to send photos to ask "what is this and where does it go" lol.

Hi. I just joined and am the former owner of a 1969 Positano Yellow 124 Sport Spyder I bought new in San Antonio just before I was commissioned in the Air Force. My wife and I drove it to assignments in Washington State and Arizona until we increased our family size and I got overseas orders. I've missed it lo these many years (decades?).
Now that I have ended both my 25-year USAF career and 21 years working at a Dept of Energy Physics Lab, I need something to do. That something is a red 1979 124 Spider 2000 that I may buy this weekend. We'll see.

Hi all. I'm new to this forum, but familiar with it. About seven years ago, I had spinal surgery and couldn't own a sports car. I had a Miata before that and a 200 Spider before that. I admit, my 1992 Miata was a pretty refined car compared to a 1982 Fiat Spider. It didn't matter to me because I loved both of them. I even had a MGB-GT for a short period. I liked that car too! Anyway, I
am getting close to buying another Fiat Sipder. I truly love the styling of the car-especially with the lower ride hight and chrome bumpers. When I got my 1982 Spider, I had grand illusions of putting a small block Ford engine in it. The car was the green/smoke color and only had 20,000 miles on it. I really liked the driving and handling qualities of it and couldn't bring myself to modify a car as nice as it was. So, I sold it and got the Miata. After having the Miata for about a year, I sold it to a friend. A year later, I bought it back. I put the 5.0 Mustang engine in it and drove it a little over a year. I ended up selling that car to a fellow up in Conneticut. I think he still has it and he's over 70 like me. Anyway, I'm glad to be here.

Hi everyone, I'm TC and I am from Mobile, Al. I just purchased a 82 spider 2000 less than a month ago. I fell in love with it when I met it, but as usual I'm not sure what I've gotten into.
Nevertheless, I still love the damn thing. I have many issues and I do hope some of your knowledge will rub off on me. :slayer:

Hi everyone my names Trevor and I have a feeling I’m one of the youngest people on this forum. I’m 19 and out of Las Vegas, NV. I recently inherited my grandpas car, an 82 124. Super excited for the adventures me and this car will go on, even though so far she prefers being in jacks than on the road. But as they say; fix it again tony

I restored a 1970 Fiat Spider in the 1990's. Had to sell it just prior to a retirement move. On the lookout for a daily driver of that era. I still have a few parts!
