Technical Spider exhaust ?'s

hi, my first post!! we have an exhaust leak right after the catalytic onverter on out 78 spider i was wondering sense we dont have emissions here if i could run new pipe from the manifold to the ANSA exhaust and eliminate the converter and the smaller resonator thing. would this cause any problems? i have done it on my mustang with no real efect but im wondering if anyone here has experiances with this car.. thanks guys and looks like a great site so far.

I did it on my 79 Spider and the car ran alot better and sounded better, I also got better gas mileage, while I was at it I also increased the exhaust size to 2.5 and the performance improved and again sounded better. Hope that this helps. Steve

Did you use the stock exhaust manifold? or did you get a performace header?

I used the stock headers, I have found it difficult to get aftermarket headers for my car, because I still have all of the emission stuff on it, I am wanting to get an aftermarket intake manifold and carb. Steve

Well ive decided just to cut the pipe where it clears the steering linkage in the front and then run the pipe to the muffler i drove it with the leak today with the top up and wow it needs to be fixed im glad it was a short ride home that exhaust smell get to ya
