General Interference Engine in 1980 Spider

Does anyone know if a 1980 Spider (with fuel injection...not sure if that matters) has an interference or non-interference engine? I'm considering buying one that has what appears to be a badly work timing belt and trying to factor towing (if necessary) into the decision to purchase.

the valves will not normally hit the pistons, but the crankshaft may kick the auxillary shaft out the side of the block. do not turn the engine until you have installed a new belt, and set the timing correctly. the auxillary shaft pulley must be set at "one o'clock"
