I'm thinking of converting my 76 to FI. I'm a newbe, so if this has been addressed, just send me there. I've had trouble with my idle and after several unsuccessful rebuilds, I put on a Weber from a 2.3L Mustang. It runs better, sounds way better but really hit my gas mileage. I've played with the jets but there are so many, I finally gave up. Figured FI might be the answer. Will the 2.0L FI fit the 1.8 engine and if so, is it feasible? Thanks.

You would be better off selling your carbed car and buying a FI car. To convert a carbed car to FI is a MAJOR task: wiring harness for all the sensors has to be installed ($??? if available), Air Flow meter must be installed (approx. $350-$450), ECU must be installed ($200-$400), Fuel Pump and Filter ($150-$250), Combo Relay ($80-$100), Injectors ($400-$600), Fuel Rail ($???), Replace Fuel Line ($???), Variou Sensors and Cold Start Injector ($400-$600), Throttle Body and other bits and pieces ($???), Intake Manifold ($400-$600) and a hell of a lot of labor.

It's not worth it. Even if you can get a FI engine, there would be too much work required to make it run.

Thanks, George. Not what I wanted to hear but still good to know.
I've had my Spyder since 77, so a replacement isn't an option. Guess I'll have to figure out how to jet that big Weber.
